Why Breed?
My mother and I started Castlegate Farms breeding business back in 2000. We had run into negativity in the business and wanted to change the way we were starting to look at the industry with its dishonesty and corruption We wanted to breed and create our own horses as to know every step they have taken and help developed them into talented athletes that could truly represent American Breeding.
We knew we had a phenomenal mare with fabulous pedigree and wanted to pass her talent and traits along all the while being able to control the outcome. I train through a slow and steady approach working to read the horses through observation and feeling. Today, there is nothing like walking into the Grand Prix ring on a horse I know EVERYTHING about.
I have hand selected everything from who her father was going to be, to the type of grain she was going to eat, to the bridle she was going to wear into the international ring in Wellington. We have been very successful and now have several offspring to bring to the market.
